Plot: A brilliant but troubled New Zealand chess champion finds purpose by teaching underprivileged children about the rules of chess and life.
Alternative Plot: After suffering a nervous breakdown, chess player Genesis Potini (Cliff Curtis) volunteers to teach a group of disadvantaged children how to play the game.
