On a rainy night in 1993, the uncouth, alcohol-dependent advertising executive, Joe Doucett, finds himself under lock and key for no apparent reason. Confined in a squalid hotel room, Joe has spent the last two long and painful decades of his life trying to determine the reason behind his mysterious abduction when, just as inexplicably, his sadistic unknown captor decides to release him.
