Plot: Sergio, a bright 40-year-old architect, fulfilled in life, is well-off, admired and beloved. Self-confident in all circumstances, he lives life in the fast lane. One day, he is the victim of a car accident, from which he emerges unscathed but not unchanged. Now well aware of the price of life, Sergio rises against all the falseness around him. But such a stance shuts himself off from others and depression threatens him. One evening, he meets a woman on a bank of the Tiber. Much to his horror, he realizes that the lady - who fascinates him - is on the verge of flinging herself into the river. Fortunately, he manages to stop her. He then takes care of her, not without falling in love with her. But she disappears.
Alternative Plot: A successful architect (Mimmo Calopresti) has a breakdown after the death of an acquaintance.
