Popeye (1980)

Plot: Popeye is a muscular sailor who arrives in the seaside town of Sweethaven in search of his long-lost father. Popeye finds that the town is governed by the pirate and angry bully Bluto. While there, Popeye meets new friends who live in the town--Wimpy, a man whose favorite food is hamburgers and Olive Oyl, Bluto's girlfriend. In Sweethaven, Popeye becomes a legend when he takes on a gang of punks in Rough House's burger joint, stops a greedy taxman, and defeats a champion boxer in a boxing match. After Popeye and Olive Oyl find an abandoned baby named Swee'pea, Popeye reunites with his father and discovers he has been kidnapped by Bluto, and he sets out to stop Bluto who bids to get his revenge on Sweethaven by eating spinach, which gives him his incredible strength.

Alternative Plot: Looking for the father (Ray Walston) who deserted him as a baby, a sailor named Popeye (Robin Williams) journeys to the port town of Sweethaven. Popeye befriends an assortment of eccentrics and falls in love with Olive Oyl (Shelley Duvall), who already has a suitor, the bully Bluto (Paul L. Smith). Popeye also discovers an abandoned baby, Swee'Pea, whom he raises as his own. But when the spurned Bluto kidnaps Olive and the child, Popeye takes action, with the help of his magic spinach.
