Plot: Jack Killoran is a lawyer who can 'fix' any situation for his wealthy clients, usually by bribing or blackmailing corrupt officials. Killoran runs afoul of some of his clients when he has a crisis of conscience after miraculously surviving a riding accident.
Alternative Plot: Chicago lawyer Jack Killoran (Jon Voight) lives luxuriously and guilt-free, despite the fact that his main activity as an attorney is to cover up the misdeeds of corrupt politicians and organized crime figures. However, everything changes when he is asked to "fix" a murderous mess. He becomes intent on mending his illegal ways -- but his cutthroat clientele is less than eager to see him abandon them, and their efforts to coerce him back on the job soon result in Killoran wearing a neck brace.
