Nina's Heavenly Delights (2006)

Plot: Shelley Conn plays Nina, a young woman who ran away to London to avoid an arranged marriage. She returns to Glasgow three years later (after her father dies unexpectedly of a heart-attack) to find his gambling problem means the family restaurant has to be sold. To save it Nina decides to compete in a TV curry competition.

Alternative Plot: Nina Shah (Shelley Conn), a closeted lesbian, returns to Scotland following her father's death and discovers that the family restaurant is for sale. Nina's father secretly entered a "Best of the West" curry competition before his death, and Nina vows to win the contest and save the eatery. Lisa (Laura Fraser), a charismatic woman who owns half of the business, agrees to help Nina, and soon the kitchen heats up with more than exotic spices when Nina falls in love with Lisa.
