Alternative Plot: Karl (Claudio Botosso) and Eleonora (Giada Colagrande) are lovers. When Karl suddenly dies, Eleonora is surprised to learn he has left her a modern home in upstate New York, called the Rubber Room. There, not only does Eleonora learn new things about Karl, but she finds Leslie (Willem Dafoe), the Rubber Room's eccentric caretaker, as well. Leslie and Eleonora enter into an affair of their own, but it becomes complicated as Leslie forces Eleonora into a bizarre game of jealousy.
