Plot: As part of a drunken bet with her sister, a happily married woman sends an anonymous Valentine's card to her husband to see if he hides it. When he does, what was a prank leads to a series of events and revelations that puts her marriage at risk, and leaves her looking for revenge.
Alternative Plot: For years, Archie (Dougray Scott) has been pining for Alice (Jennifer Love Hewitt), the wife of his law partner, Sam (Jimi Mistry). When Archie impulsively sends Alice an anonymous love note, she assumes it to be a playful gesture from her husband, and replies with her own unsigned letter. After Sam hides the note, Alice's sister, Felicity (Kate Miles), convinces her that he must be having an affair. As the extent of Sam's infidelities becomes clear, Alice turns to Archie for support.
