El Dorado (1966)

Plot: Cole Thornton is a gunfighter who comes to El Dorado on the request of Bart Jason. But before seeing Jason, he meets an old friend, J.P. Harrah, the Sheriff. He tells Cole Jason wants him to help gets the MacDonalds off their land because their land is the source of water. Cole goes to Jason and rejects his offer, he then goes to MacDonalds but one of them who was on guard takes a shot at Cole and Cole shoots back killing him. It's one of MacDonalds' sons. He brings the boy to his father and tells him, what happened but his daughter doesn't believe him. When Cole leaves she takes a shot at him but only wounding him. He goes to see the doctor who tells him, the bullet is lodged against his spine and needs a better doctor to remove it. He leaves and goes wandering around, eventually while in another town, he sees a young man challenge another man to fight him. The other one doesn't think he has nothing to worry about because he doesn't have a gun but the young man pulls a knife and throws it at him killing him. When one of the other men, tries to kill the young man, Cole intervenes. Cole then talks to the leader Nelse Mcleod another gunfighter. He tells Cole he's on his way to El Dorado; he was summoned by Jason. Cole tells him J.P. Harrah won't let him do what Jason tells him to do but Mcleod tells Cole Harrah is now a drunk. So Cole rides off to El Dorado and along the way he loses feeling because of the bullet. The young man follows him and helps him. He tells Cole his name is Mississipi and would like to tag along but before they go any further, they get him a gun but he says he'd not good with a gun. Cole tells him he'll need it. When they arrive at El Dorado, they find Harrah drunk. Mississipi makes a concoction that wakes him up and also makes him unable to drink but when he gets up all he wants to do is drink. And everyone thinks he's a joke.

Alternative Plot: Cole Thornton refuses to help rich rancher Bark Jason get rid of the MacDonald family at the sheriff's request. However, when he sees others taking up the job, he returns to help.
