Plot: A canine outcast who is half-wolf half-dog lives in Nome, Alaska 1925 and is teased by all the dogs in the town except for Jenna, a pure bred Husky, Boris, a Russian goose, and Muk and Luk, two polar bears. He then gets the chance to be a hero when a case of diphtheria breaks out and the dog team gets lost. He then sets out on a crazy journey with his goose friend Boris and Muk and Luk the polar bears. Jenna then decides to go looking for them.She then finds them and helps them out some she then gets injured and Balto tells her to go back with Muk and Luk he tells Boris to help guid Muk and Luk he then finds the sled team and helps guide them on another crazy journey. He then gets the medicine back to the children of Nome and then becomes the town hero and is loved by all.
Alternative Plot: In this animated feature, a deadly diphtheria epidemic strikes the remote town of Nome, Alaska. With the life-saving medicine located hundreds of miles away, the residents decide to send out a sled-dog team. Balto (Kevin Bacon) -- a half-wolf dog ignored by all except a goose, Boris (Bob Hoskins), and two polar bears -- is chosen to run but is disqualified by lead dog Steele (Jim Cummings). When the other dogs get lost in the snow, Balto risks his life to rescue them and deliver the medicine.
